Projects
9th Avenue Trail
To date, our main activity from 2007-2010 has been the construction of a walking trail, known as the 9th Avenue Trail. This trail skirts Dawson’s core area and ties in with the pre-existing Dyke / Klondyke Millennium Trail, ensuring that people can circumnavigate our town without having to leave the trail network. This trail building project has employed a significant number of locals during our 2007-2010 trail building seasons, with a special focus on youth employment. The trail includes features such as information kiosks, interpretive panels, and benches.

Trails Inventory
In 2010 we gathered extensive trails data in the Dawson municipality area, including GPS tracks, waypoints, trail photographs, and detailed notes on things such as trail condition, grade, surface etc. We are currently developing this information into a user-friendly trails inventory GIS database. By doing so, we will gain an information resource designed for access by laypersons, but sophisticated enough that it can be utilized by municipal and regional planners.
The benefit of this GIS database will become evident in several ways: we will be able to share the information readily; we can overlay trails information with other relevant information such as land ownership, stakeholder interests, historic and archaeological significance; and good quality maps can be developed for planning and public consultation purposes.

Tombstone Park
In 2009, KATTS received a significant amount of financial support to work on developing the trails network in Tombstone Park. The scope of the work involved upgrades to several of the more popular hiking routes in the Park: Tombstone Visitor Centre Trail, North Klondike River Trail, Mount Goldensides Trail and the neighbouring Klondike River Campground Interpretive Trail.
